September 2007: IP Pragmatics brokered licence wins Outstanding Licensing Deal of the Year

A licence identified and brokered by IP Pragmatics between the UK's Veterinary Laboratories Agency and Qiagen has won the Outstanding Licensing Deal of the Year in this year's Animal Pharm awards. The award, which was announced at the Animal Pharm Awards ceremony on September 25 in London, is bestowed annually to individuals and organisations who demonstrated remarkable achievements in veterinary health.

August 2007: Dr Hanane Gouizi joins the team

IP Pragmatics is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Hanane Gouizi as Business Development Consultant. Prior to joining IP Pragmatics Hanane was a technology transfer officer with Medical Research Council Technology in London with responsibility for identifying inventions in the oncology area from MRC scientists around the UK. She has a PhD from the University of Manchester and post-doctoral research experience in medical oncology.

June 2007: IP Pragmatics welcomes Dr Win Eyles to the board of directors

IP Pragmatics is pleased to welcome Dr Win Eyles to the board of directors. Win brings a wealth of IP experience having worked as a patent attorney for over 30 years. Nine years ago she developed an online patents management system and founded NetsPat Limited, a business that she has successfully built up over this period. With the completion of the acquisition of NetsPat, Win joins the board of IP Pragmatics as a non-executive director and will continue to be actively involved in the development of NetsPat and its integration into the wider IP Services offered by IP Pragmatics.

June 2007: IP Pragmatics completes acquisition of NetsPat

IP Pragmatics has announced that it has completed the acquisition of NetsPat Limited, whereby NetsPat will become a wholly owned subsidiary of IPPL. This acquisition follows an 18 month period of close co-operation between the two companies.

April 2007: IP Pragmatics exhibiting at AUTM and BIO annual meetings

IP Pragmatics exhibited at the annual AUTM (Association of University Technology Managers) meeting in San Francisco between 7th March and 10th March 2007 on behalf of the InterAct project. The event was an opportunity for InterAct to meet with licensing managers from potential partner companies as well as an opportunity to meet other research organisations that may have synergistic IP. InterAct will also be exhibiting at the annual BIO conference in Boston in May 2007. March 2007: InterAct completes further commercialisation vehicles

IP Pragmatics manages the InterAct partnership (www.interactpartnership.co.uk) on behalf of four leading UK public sector research organisations. IP Pragmatics has assisted InterAct to complete three further exploitation vehicles this month bringing the total number to eleven since the project begun in January 2005. Amongst the recently completed deals is a major licence with Applied Biosystems Inc for commercializing VLA's avian flu and Newcastle disease PCR assays in markets outside of the UK. March 2007: Ronnie Georghiou appointed as Business Development Consultant

IP Pragmatics is pleased to announce the appointment of Ronnie Georghiou as Business Development Consultant. Prior to joining IP Pragmatics, Ronnie held the position of global study operations manager for one of the top 10 pharma companies and, in parallel, completed an MBA which focused on technology transfer and business development projects in the biopharma sector.

February 2007: IP Pragmatics gives keynote speech at Japan Intellectual Property Symposium

Claude Kaplan was invited to give the key note speech at a IP conference in Osaka, Japan on 14th Feb 2007. The conference titled "From Osaka to the world! Activation of Life Science Industry through technology transfer" was hosted by the Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT) and sponsored by Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI). Claude's presentation entitled "Experience and challenges of technology transfer in life science" focused specifically on barriers and issues related to the transfer of technologies into and out of Japan and how these barriers can be mitigated.
